Stark County Community Nutrition Clinic -The Stark County Health Department Community Nutrition Clinic is proud to now offer a new and unique service to the county. Medical Nutrition Therapy (MNT) provided by a Registered/Licensed Dietitian incorporates current nutritional knowledge to your health problems to achieve a better quality of life. It begins with the nutrition assessment of a client, followed by a medically prescribed nutrition therapy plan based on your health needs and personal goals. Registered and Licensed Dietitians operate the clinic with a wide variety of expertise in a variety of specialty areas.
Medical Nutrition Therapy for Medicare Part B
The Stark County Health Department and the Community Nutrition Clinic Dietitians are providers for Medical Nutrition Therapy for Medicare Part B. They can now offer counseling services for Diabetes and Pre-Dialysis Medical Nutrition Therapy for anyone with current Medicare Part B Coverage. This coverage is new for Medicare clients as of January 1, 2002 . Contact your Medicare Provider for details on your coverage.
Clients need to be referred by a physician and have documented order for an RD to provide Medical Nutrition Therapy along with the diagnosis and diagnosis code with the highest level of specificity. It needs to also include the physician's name, signature, and provider number. The client is responsible for only the 20% co-pay per visit. They may receive up to 3 hours per year. Medicare and your physician may approve additional coverage for any significant health changes. Changes in health such as; new disease diagnosis, or episodes of high blood sugars, or significant change in renal function may qualify for additional hours of Medicare coverage.
